Counseling can be very effective... as a collaborative process. The client has the expertise on his or her life experiences and provides insight related to these experiences in each session. The client is a valuable resource in helping the psychologist determine the best course of treatment. The psychologist’s professional training and treatment experience inform the counseling process to assist the client in feeling better and functioning more effectively. Together a psychologist and client can work in the context of a positive counseling experience... enabling the client to develop an improved state of functioning and emotional well-being.
